The Ghost Town 38.5 - How to Get Here
From Albuquerque, NM (approx. 3 hours): take I 25 south past Truth or Consequences; about 17-18 miles south of T or C you will look for the signs to Silver City and Hwy. 152. Take the Hwy. 152 (exit 63), turn right, follow on into Hillsboro. If you leave I 25 and land at the Lakeview RV park across from the lake, get out of your car, go inside and ask Jim or Bev for help. Tell them Susan sent you. They will understand. You can buy gas at the RV park until 6pm in the winter...also snacks and other things of interest.
From El Paso, TX (approx. 2.5 hrs.): I 10 to I 25 at Las Cruces, north on I 25, past Hatch, to the Hwy. 152 (exit 63). Turn under the interstate and head west to Hillsboro. If you turn the other way you will be at the RV park and Jim or Bev can direct you back the right way.
From Tucson, AZ (approx. 3.5 - 4 hrs.): I 10 to Deming, this is a little trickier...but look for signs to Silver City and head north but don't go to Silver, instead take Hwy. 26 (on the edge of Deming) toward Hatch. About 17 miles short of Hatch you will come up on the bar at Nutt and Hwy. 27. There is only one way to get onto Hwy. 27 as Nutt is where it begins or ends depending on your perspective. Turn onto 27 and follow it to Hillsboro. Be careful of the cattle which are on open range land and make nasty dents in your car and body if you hit them. You are also responsible for paying the rancher for the destruction of his cow should you have such a mishap.
Once you are in Hillsboro anyone who lives here can tell you how to find anything you are looking for in town. Registration will be at my place, just beyond the village on the west end. Cross the bridge leaving the village and I am the first inhabited property on the left. I will be posting the registration times later, but they will be generous throughout the day and evening, or so I'm thinking.
