A Here to There, LLC event

This event would not be what it is without the contributions from my friends and sponsors.  I'm excited to report that there are all kinds of new sponsors and as well as some faithful ones from previous years for '08.

So far:

Artesian Bath House - runners will find a 40% discount coupon for a one hour soak in the Artesian's hot mineral baths in TorC.

The BarberShop Cafe - Angela and Steve are donating a Ten Thousand Villages $25.00 give certificate.  The Ten Thousand Villages gift items come through a third-world fair trade program.  The cafe also houses the gift shop.

Clif Bar & Co. - They're sending a generous variety of goodies for everyone: Clif Shot Gel packets, Clif Shot Bloks packets, and Clif Shot Drink packets.  I, personally, have used their products and if you're not familiar with them, it's about time you tried some!

Enchanted Villa B&B - not only does Maree take care of a number of runners at her place, she's a volunteer, and she is once again donating a pocket-sized bottle of hand sanitizer for each runner.  If our luck holds, she'll bring her famous apple pies to the post-race bbq!  Last year I had a number of runners ask for "doggie bags" for extra pcs. of pie!

Herald Publishing - Last year Carlos Padilla (editor of The Herald newspaper and my good friend) took the race photos.  Carlos will be back again in '08.  The folks at The Herald have supported the Ghost Town since it began.  They have provided the goodie bags, newspapers for everyone, many many bottles of water, general encouragement to me, and promotion of the race not only in the newspaper but also in their publication The Chapparal Guide.

Humm Foods - I love Larabars.  I took them with me to the Arctic summer '07.  They are made from dates, nuts, other fruits.  The staff at Humm already sent me a big supply of Larabars in a variety of flavors.

Marathon & Beyond magazine - Publisher, Jan Seeley, is my personal friend, but you'd be hard pressed to find a race director who wouldn't claim the same.  She and the magazine have supported the Ghost Town since the beginning with advertising help, always kind words, and "swag."  Not only will there be a copy of the magazine for you, Jan is once again sending cool door prizes.

Marge Myers - Marge is a gifted artist.  Before moving to the area from Iowa, she had her own graphics design firm.  She dabbles in many art forms but is best known in the area for her photography, especially her aerials.  She and husband Tom built their own plane which he pilots.  Marge is doing something special (not related to photography) with the special awards.  I don't want to say what it is yet because they are surprises!  But, if you have run before, and have stayed for the post-race bbq, we will once again feast on Marge's vegetarian beans.  She made one crock the first year and two crocks in '07.  There's nary a bean left by the time I finally move toward the table.  Her contributions are generous, lovely, and delicious!

Ritch's' pecans - Bill and Bernice live in the northern outreaches of the county.  One of their "goodies" is provided each participant by the race at the finish line.  Bill and Bernice donate a special sampler of their flavored pecans to the goodie bags!

Runner's World - They have a great program for race directors - either bib numbers or goodie bags.  Since my bags are supplied by The Herald, RW is supplying your bib numbers.

Volunteers - I cannot do this alone.  Without my volunteers this event could not exist.  They give of their time, their comfort, truly of themselves.  So, in appreciation of my faithful friends, I have set up a page about these generous people.  Many of them will be familiar to you once more, though there are also going to be a number of new faces.  Just click the "Volunteers" button and you can learn more about who's out there helping you run smoothly and safely!

This event is sponsored by Here to There, LLC which organizes and promotes walks, treks and runs of varying lengths in beautiful places.
