A Here to There, LLC event
This event would not be what it is without the contributions from my friends and sponsors. I'm excited to report that there are all kinds of new sponsors and as well as some faithful ones from previous years for '08.
So far:
ABQ Running S
hop - Randy Arriola at the ABQ Running Shop has graciously agreed to sponsor the 2011 Ghost Town 38.5. We've not settled on exactly what he'll be sending, but there will be something for the packets and possibly some gift certificates and running specific items to be given as door prizes at the pre-race pasta dinner. Here's their link: ABQ Running ShopArtesian Bath House - runners were given a 40% discount coupon for a one hour soak in the Artesian's hot mineral baths in TorC - both in '07, '08, and '09. We're hoping for the same again in 2010.
Comfort Inn & Suites - They're offering Ghost Town runners and volunteers a generous discount of $25.00 off per night per room. Singles (normally $95.00) are available to GT participants for $70.00 and doubles (normally $105.00) are available for $80.00. (Prices do not include tax.) For reservation info. please go to the Ghost Town accommodations page or follow this link: Ghost Town 38.5 accommodations
Enchanted Villa B&B - not only does Maree take care of a number of runners at her place, she's a volunteer, and she is once again donating a pocket-sized bottle of hand sanitizer for each runner.
Scott Eppelman - a 2009 GT alum, Scott is donating "Final Wipes" for each packet. The wipes come in individual packages "about the size of a condom" and are better than a "wad of tp," according to Scott.

If you ran in '09 you may remember
Greg Murray (OH). Greg recommended the HydroSwiftPack in his blog, so I looked
up the pack, liked what I saw, and asked if GoLite would be willing to donate
one for our 2010 event. It's May '09 and I've just heard that they're sending a
HydroSwiftPack to be given as a door prize at the pre-race Sat. night supper.
You will want to be at the dinner, believe me! If you're unfamiliar with GoLite products, here's a
link:
GoLite - The World Leader in Lite-Weight Outdoor Equipment and Apparel
Hatch Chile Express - Family owned and family farmed - anything you might want in the way of chiles. Located at 622 Franklin (on the R if you're coming off I-25) in Hatch, they're not only the source for the 2010 finishers' awards, they're donating something special for the goodie bags!
Herald Publishing - In '07, '08 and '09 Carlos Padilla (editor of The Herald newspaper and my good friend) took the race photos. I'm hoping Carlos will be back again in '10. The folks at The Herald have supported the Ghost Town since it began. They have provided the goodie bags, newspapers for everyone, many many bottles of water, general encouragement to me, and promotion of the race not only in the newspaper but also in their publication The Chapparal Guide. Here's a link to their site: The Herald
Marathon & Beyond magazine - Publisher, Jan Seeley, is my personal friend, but you'd be hard pressed to find a race director who wouldn't claim the same. She and the magazine have supported the Ghost Town since the beginning with advertising help, always kind words, and "swag." Not only will there be a copy of the magazine for you, Jan is once again sending cool door prizes. Here's their link: Marathon & Beyond Magazine
Moeben - Shannon at Moeben is working with me on the finishers awards. She has a great line of products - not just sleeves, but all kinds of clothing. Shannon is committed to developing great athletic wear known for it's UV protection. A link to her site: Moeben Running Sleeves - The Original Running Sleeve
- I'm thrilled to announce that
Montrail (makers of a variety of running shoes and other stuff) is joining the
2011 Ghost Town 38.5 by sponsoring the special awards and by providing something
for each packet. Award winners will be receiving a gift card for a pair of shoes
from Montrail!. Here's a link to more info. about Montrail:

Tucked in under the Dept. of Tourism,
the Sports Authority is a financial sponsor of the Ghost Town. In '09 their
donation will provide all the food at the finish line as well as the salmon,
hamburgers, fixins, and sides at the post-race Bbq. If you'd like to learn more

Road ID
- A number of you have commented on how many events
you've done that have Road Id fliers in your packets. Well, Road ID has a
generous program that will supply your bib numbers in '09. If you don't have one
of the their ID tags - this is a true story: an older runner was the victim of a
hit and run while out on his daily miles. He was left in bad shape lying by the
side of the road. By happenstance another runner came along some time later and
found the victim. He was rushed to the hospital and his life was saved. He had a
Road ID tag on his shoe and it is how they were able to identify him while he
was still unconscious. I didn't learn this from the company, but from other
runners. You might think the ID tags are an "unnecessary extra" but you never
know. Here's their link: http://www.roadid.com
Pauline and Richard Sanchez - Generous friends...they've given several pairs of sterling silver earrings made by a Native American artist in the Grants, NM area. The earrings will be given as door prizes at the pasta meal on Sat. night of race weekend.
Sierra County Lodgers Tax The advisory board of the Sierra County Lodgers Tax Fund with approval of our County Commission allocates some funds toward the Ghost Town advertising budget. Since we've filled early in '09 and I've pulled ads for Nov. and Dec., I'm using the remaining funds for a small gift for each of you from these funds.
Volunteers - I cannot do this alone. Without my volunteers this event could not exist. They give of their time, their comfort, truly of themselves. So, in appreciation of my faithful friends, I have set up a page about these generous people. Many of them will be familiar to you once more, though there are also going to be a number of new faces. Just click the "Volunteers" button and you can learn more about who's out there helping you run smoothly and safely!
Zombierunner.com sent some great items for the goodie bags in '09.
They've already committed to sponsoring us again in 2010! If you don't know about
ZombieRunner - visit their site!
