A Few Photos from Walk New Mexico
I've decided to put just a small selection of photos here. It just seems appropriate that fewer will say more as there was a lot of "empty" land out there. The banner photo on this page was taken as the sun rose in the east on the morning of Day 3. We were camped in a meadow with the Upham Hills to our west. It was new territory for us, and it stilled our souls. The memory of the place has not dimmed with the many risings of the sun that have taken place since. For myself, when I view them, I get a little choked up for they remind me of the challenge and the peace of the desert I crossed.
There was more than one day in the sand. Leaving only a vanishing trace on Day 3 - sunrise on the Upham Hills.
With winds gusting at 60 mph, I was crippled with blisters and bent
by the wind, but I continued to creep forward.
In the northern Jornada it was just me The young men of NationRun.com - Hwy. 380, near Trinity Site.
and the desert (and the photographer)
It's not the Jornada del Muerto for nothing! The hills, the hills...loving the hills of Hwy. 14.
